The UN, the US, and the UK

So the UN wants to inspect Gitmo, and the US tells them that they can't have unfettered access. This feels like pretty big news to me, and yet I only came upon it while reading the Guardian online from the UK. Why does that happen?

This news is on the front pages of both Le Monde and Al-Jazeera websites, and I heard about it on WQXR this morning. So I have the opposite problem from you, Dan: I find myself wondering when the "Alias" chick Jennifer Garner is going to pop out that kid, and why no one else seems concerned about that.

Ah ha! It all makes sense now! Oh, wait a minute. I've got to get my brain straight. So this means that all those Abu Ghraib pictures were fake... because we're faking intelligence... to prove to the world that we... that we are ruled by a despot... and we circumvent the UN...so that we can invade... ourselves?

Aw, fuck. I thought I had it there for a second.
