A Non-Latino Pickup

So the Mets got Billy Wagner to sign with them. At 34, he's another guy I worry about being past his prime, but there's no denying his effectiveness in closing games last year. With a fastball regularly hitting 100mph, he had a miniscule 1.51 ERA.

I hope Braden Looper got all his crap out of Billy's locker.

I hear 'ya when it comes to worrying about BW's age. The Mets seem to be determined to win now, as opposed to building a young core of players. This is what happens when you're competing with the Yankees as much as you're competing with the other teams in your division. On the other hand, relievers, and especially closers, tend to have a longer shelf life, so Wagner could end up being an effective (but not bald) closer for the Mets for the next few years. And the best part about it all is that it'll only cost you $75 a ticket to sit in the worst seats in the house. Let's go Mets!

If we think Shea is expensive now, just wait until the new stadium's built.

The classless, broke-ass, colorful fan is getting squeezed out of New York baseball.
