Holy Shit!

While I totally want the Astros to beat the White Sox, I can't tell you how happy I am to be watching such great baseball in the World Series.

I mean, come on, people. Last night's game? The Astros come back to tie a game in the 9th inning, facing a pitcher who throws 100 miles an hour. Astros Manager Phil Garner has Jose Vizcaino pinch-hit, and the old guy slaps the game-tying single in a play that also featured a spectacular slide into home, which could've just as easily been the final out of the game.

AND THEN, in the bottom of the 9th, Scott Podsednik, who hit exactly zero home runs in the regular season, hits a walk-off to give the ChiSox a 2-0 series lead.

If you can watch these games and not enjoy them, well, frankly, I don't think we can be friends anymore. Fuckin' A, I love baseball.

Great game. Great baseball weather they have their in Chicago, too. ...Question: With the possible exception of Joe Morgan ('that pitch was up and eee-un', 'he has tremendous skee-uls'), is there anybody more irritating than Joe Buck?

Actually, I like Joe Buck. At least he doesn't constantly refer to his days on The Big Red Machine. Why don't you like him?

I guess he just strikes me as being smug, and there's something kind of right wing about him, as well. I like John Miller, the ESPN/SF Giants guy. A few years ago, when the Giants and Angels were in the World Series, he turned to Joe Morgan at the end of a game in Anaheim and said, "Joe, are you goin' to San Francisco?" When Joe said "of course, John", Miller says, "well, be sure to wear flowers in your hair." You'll never hear those kinds of cracks from Joe Buck.

Great game, but I only got to see the 9th inning. I think Joe Buck is annoying too, he seems to have little to add, but seems to always be talking. He is no Jack Buck that is for sure. Joe Morgan might always be yapping about the Big Red Machine and that is a pain, but he points stuff out that often then happens, and asks questions to Jon Miller or the audience to say I have an opinion what is yours. Joe Buck is even worse doing football. I will say Joe Morgan & Jon Miller via the radio broadcast is the preferred way to go(On Radio they are quicker to the point because they also have to describe the game).

Actually, I'm sort of annoyed that they drop the support staff for the Series. His voice wasn't soothing, but I liked what Piniella had to say. And Al Leiter last year was awesome. Even Piazza wasn't bad the couple of games he sat in on. I like that they could speak to the current players' strengths from real experience. Where the hell are those guys?

What is with the Pitch track thing ? there needs to be a button so you can remove that from your TV if you have had enough, or can bring it up if you can't believe the pitch you just saw.

Phil, I'm glad you remembered Jack Buck. He's the one I listened to growing up in St. Louis.
